  1. George Samuel MD, MPH
    George Samuel MD, MPH
    Principal Investigator George is earn his degree in Medicine from MgGill university in Canada and has sub-specialty in Infectious diseases and Pulmonology from UTMB in Galveston. George has ample experience conducting clinical trials related with Infectious diseases such as HIV and Tuberculosis. He has vast knowledge on FDA Code of Regulations and has serve as an advisor in multiple committees for implementation of clinical trials.
  2. John Podgore DO, MPH
    John Podgore DO, MPH
    Co-Investigator John ear his degree in osteopathic medicine from the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines Iowa. He is a pediatrician with sub-specialty in Pediatric Infectious diseases from Brook Army Medical Center. He has long experience in clinical trials and Human subjects protection in research specially working with refugee and immigrant population. Dr Podgore spend 4 months of a year providing health care in a children’s hospital in Lilongwe, Malawi
  3. Mauricio Vecino, MD, CCRP
    Mauricio Vecino, MD, CCRP
    Clinical Trials Project Lead Mauricio is an experienced Project leader of Clinical Trials with demonstrated history of working in clinical research for higher education industry. He is skilled in Clinical Research, specially in Clinical Trials implementation and oversight of study related with Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Latent Tuberculosis Infection, and HIV. He has strong scientific and research background with ample knowledge of FDA Code of Federal Regulations and Good Clinical Practice guidelines. He is USMLE certified Medical Doctor who earn his degree in Medicine from Autonoma University Bucaramanga (Colombia). Currently, he serves as a member of the Implementation and Quality Control for Clinical Trials Committee (IQC) and the Research Participant Protection working group for the Tuberculosis Trials Consortium at the CDC.
  4. Noreen Kahn M.D, MPH, CCRP
    Noreen Kahn M.D, MPH, CCRP
    Research Coordinator Noreen Kahn is working as a clinical research coordinator at UNTHSC. She earned a degree in Medicine and started her career as OB/GYN in Pakistan. After coming to USA, she completed MPH from University of Washington. Noreen currently serves as a member of the Training Advisory Committee (TRAC) for the Tuberculosis Trials Consortium at the CDC. She likes to watch movies and attend events with her husband and two sons. She likes to volunteer in her kids’ school events and community health fairs.
  5. Deliz Olivo Reyes
    Deliz Olivo Reyes
    Administrative Coordinator Mrs. Olivo professional career is directed to the field of healthcare administration: 12 years teaching healthcare administration in a post-secondary college and 8 years administrative an office. Her academic, human and employment training has focused on the implementation of state and federal healthcare regulations, FDA requirements, Good Clinical Practices, ICH guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures. She is currently an Administrative Coordinator in UNTHSC-Clinical Trial department for the TB Clinical Research group. In this position Mrs. Olivo is in charge of managing the budget of the project, ensure that the clinical research study are conducted in accordance with the protocol, SOP, GCP and led the regulatory part, submissions to IRBs, and ensure Quality Control (QC). She is an analytical person, organized and oriented to fulfill the objectives of the project.
  6. Jessica Bird
    Jessica Bird
    Research Coordinator (Compliance) Jessica is responsible for compliance at TBTC Site #20. Jessica received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas Christian University. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from UT Southwestern School of Health Professions. Jessica gained most of her research experience through assisting with multiple national studies focusing on mental health in veterans.
